St. Pius’ Merseal makes the most of baseball Dream Team season

(Festus) Andrew Merseal has become one of the elite offensive players in Missouri high school baseball.

The St. Pius Lancers junior was the JCAA Small-School Player of the Year, and the shortstop also made his way onto the Regional Radio Dream Team.

But Merseal says this last accolade is one he values highly.

Merseal was a dynamite hitter this season, posting a conference-high .506 batting average.

He also upped his game at the plate in just about every category.

The third-team all-state selection finished with 5 doubles, 4 triples, 2 home runs, 34 runs batted in, 31 runs scored and 20 stolen bases.

But Merseal says his greatest asset is putting bat to ball.

And Merseal is grateful to those who have been there every step of the way.

Merseal is one of 5 all-state players to also make the baseball Dream Team.
