St. Pius seeks big boys’ soccer win against Festus on KJFF

(Festus) The St. Pius Lancers and Festus Tigers meet in a boys’ soccer conference clash Wednesday on the Jefferson County Game of the Week on KJFF.

St. Pius is off to a 4-1 start to the season, including winning their first game in JCAA action Monday night against Windsor.

After coming close to being a champion last year, Lancers head coach Aaron Portell thinks an older team is more determined than ever to reach that goal.

Festus has started 2-2 and leans on junior Stephen Darden, who is already closing in on 50 career goals.

But for all his scoring prowess, Tigers head coach Austin Burgert says Darden’s best trait is his versatility.

The Lancers have dominated the rivalry, beating the Tigers in 15 straight and 17 of the last 18 meetings.

Festus battles St. Pius in boys’ soccer on the Jefferson County Game of the Week.

Pregame coverage starts just at 4:45 Wednesday afternoon on AM 1400 KJFF.
