(Dittmer) St. Pius needed a lot of gut and guile, but the Lancer boys’ basketball team is still undefeated.

St. Pius knocked off Grandview 46-41 Friday night on KJFF in a back-and-forth game.

Neither team lead by more than 6 points, with Grandview leaning on its star junior guard.

Chase Wilson finished with a game-high 22 points.

But the Eagles would not be able to keep St. Pius from hitting clutch shots.

Senior guard Chase Marnin finished with a team-high 13 points, but defense did the job for St. Pius down the stretch, as they would hold Grandview scoreless in the final quarter while also holding the ball for long stretches on offense.

Lancers head coach Chris Miller says he has a team that embraces grinding out a win.

Grandview falls to 1-8 and will try to bounce back Monday against Crystal City.

St. Pius is now 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the JCAA Small-School Division.

The Lancers face Hillsboro Monday night in a game you can hear on AM 1400 KJFF.
