St. Pius Will Play Incarnate Word Friday For Class 4 State Volleyball Title

(CAPE GIRARDEAU) The St. Pius Lady Lancers volleyball team will play for the Class 4 state championship Friday at Noon against Incarnate Word. St. Pius won their semifinal match 3-2 against Jefferson City Thursday at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. It wasn’t easy as the Lady Lancers trailed 2-1 after three sets. St. Pius won the first set 25-18, lost the second 27-25 and Jefferson City won the third set 25-19. The Lady Lancers won the fourth set 25-23 and then scored a 15-12 victory in the fifth to give them a shot at the title on Friday.
St. Pius head coach Shannon Leftridge says the team began to slip in the second set.
According to Leftridge she used crucial timeouts to coach the team back into the match.
Leftridge says Incarnate Word will be a tough opponent for the title.
The Class Four State Championship match, St. Pius vs Incarnate Word is set for Friday at Noon at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau. Incarnate Word won their semi final match over St. Michael The Archangel 3-2.
