St. Vincent Football Kings of Perry County For Third Year in a Row

(Perryville) The battle for Perry county goes to St. Vincent for the third year in a row as they downed the Perryville Pirates 21-7 at Perryville tonight on J98. St. Vincent have made it a priority this season to start games fast and that’s exactly what they did against Perryville as John Wibbenmeyer found Phil Ernst in the end zone for a 25 yard pass play. Perryville would strike back to tie it up thanks to Dylan Holt.

St. Vincent got the ball back late in the first half and were able to take some momentum into halftime.

Perryville quarterback Evan Daugherty got hurt right before halftime, but stuck it out and played the second half, however, it wasn’t enough for the Pirates as the Indians held them scoreless and then Wibbenmeyer would find Ernst yet again for the icing on the cake.

Phil Ernst was our Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game with two touchdowns and some great defensive plays as well. He came into the game with just two receptions on the year and head coach Tim Schumer says it’s been a process working him into the offense after being hurt the last two seasons.

St. Vincent improves to 2-1 on the season and will host Fredericktown for their season opener next Friday while Perryville falls to 2-2 and will travel to Potosi next week.
