St. Vincent Football Visits Perryville in The Battle of Perry County on J98

(Perryville) The St. Vincent football team will make the 1.2 mile trek down Edgemont Boulevard to Perryville High School for the battle of Perry County on J98 tonight. The Indians are just 1-1 on the campaign as they were quarantined for the first two weeks of the season. St. Vincent then ran into one of the best teams in the state in Valle Catholic before beating a previously unbeaten Kelly team last week 28-14. Head coach Tim Schumer says finally having a full week to prepare for an opponent without any last minute changes has been a nice change of pace.

Perryville comes into the contest at 2-1 after winning back to back games. They’ve put up at least 35 points in those two wins after being shutout by St. Clair to start the season. Head coach Blane Boss says the young offensive line for the Pirates are improving which in turn helps propel their ground attack offense.

Coach Schumer says in a rivalry game like this one, the past doesn’t matter. It’s about what’s on the field in front of them and he thinks his team has to come out fast and execute right away against Perryville.

Coach Boss knows the rivalry aspect is going to give a little more juice for both sides and hopes his team is well prepared for the Indians defense.

Perryville (2-1) hosts St. Vincent (1-1) in the battle of Perry County this evening at 7 on J98.
