(PERRYVILLE, Mo.) – It’s been a week full of celebrations for the St. Vincent Indians girls soccer team. The Indians claimed their second-straight Class 1 state championship after defeating Principia 2-0 last week in Kansas City. Head coach Caitlyn Pistorio said they had excellent support from the community during their title run.
During the last stretch of the season, Pistorio said her team’s defense took over.
Offensively, Pistorio said her players stepped up despite losing a key player at the beginning of the season.
Pistorio said she’s proud of how her players came together to repeat as champions.
The team became the first athletic program at St. Vincent to earn back-to-back state titles. They finished the season with a record of 20-6-1.
