Standoff in St. Francois County Comes to an End

(Farmington) A standoff in St. Francois County between law enforcement and a man with mental health issues ended peacefully at about 7:30 Wednesday night.
A news release from the sheriff’s department says earlier in the day, deputies went to a residence on double ‘O’ Highway south of Farmington to serve a 96-hour commitment to an un-named man for mental services.
The man apparently would not communicate with the deputies and he began firing gunshots from his home.
At this point, negotiators with the Missouri State Highway Patrol SWAT Team wer called in.
Eventually, the man was taken into custody with no injuries reported during the scary situation.
The un-named man was then taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
Other emergecy services helping out during the standoff were the Farmington Fire and Police Departments and the St. Francois County Ambulance District.
