State of the County Features Central Bond Issue and the First County Park

(Park Hills) We broadcast the State of St. Francois County address live on KREI this morning hosted by the Central School District in Park Hills. Superintendent Ashley McMillian presented their plan for a six million dollar no tax increase bond issue…

Presiding commissioner Harold Gallaher then talked about the county. He says while St. Francois County is growing, the county government is not. In fact the number of county employees is down 22% over the last 15 years. Gallaher credited technology, but also the increased efficiency of staff. He then commended the road and bridge department for it’s great work…

Gallaher went on to say that county offices also house a number of state employees and may require expansion in the future.

Associate Commissioner Patrick Mullins came on to announce plans for a first ever county park, Owl Creek Park, which will be located just south of Desloge…

A portion of the 146 acre property was donated with another portion purchased through the ASARCO settlement funds.

The Park contains ½ mile of Big River Frontage.
Much of it along Picturesque bluffs.
