The state of Missouri’s MO ABLE program aims to help Missourians with disabilities and their families save money and invest, and do so tax-free.
State Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick says his office handles the more than 1,100 accounts that can be used like a 401K, checking or college savings account.
When money is deposited up to 15,000 dollars, the program gives account holders a tax deduction.
That’s according to Fitzpatrick.
Additionally, the account allows participants to use their money on expenses that improve the quality of life, independence or help to provide care for the individual with a disability.
They include housing, transportation, education and personal care assistance.
