(Jefferson County) The Missouri State Highway Patrol is ready for the spring months ahead which typically means dealing with increased traffic flow with the warmer weather.

Corporal Juston Wheetley with the patrol says they will also be busy with patrolling work zones.

According to Wheetley, ticket fines are doubled in work zones and if a road worker gets hit, the guilty party could receive a fine upwards of $10,000 and face losing their license.

Along with increased traffic and work zones across the state, flooding always becomes a concern in the spring.

Weather Forecasters are calling for additional flooding this spring on the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers.

Troopers will work side by side with MoDOT officials to close roads as needed when flooding occurs.
