(STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo.) – In a wild cross-town rivalry game, the Ste. Genevieve Dragons edged out the Valle Catholic Warriors 4-1 in eight innings Friday afternoon in a game heard on J-98. The score was tied at 1-1 through seven innings, but in the eighth, Ste. Genevieve grabbed the big hits, with Chad Donze breaking the tie.

The Dragons added two more runs off a double from Keaton Boyer. Donze was the Applebee’s Player of the game going 2-for-4 at the plate and pitching six and two-thirds innings with 10 strikeouts. Dragons coach Mike McDaniel said despite missing opportunities early in the game, his players kept fighting.

The win puts Ste. Genevieve’s record at 15-4 overall while Valle Catholic is now 16-4-1. The Warriors play a double-header against Potosi and Valley Park Saturday, while the Dragons next game will be in the MAAA Tournament next week.
