(STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo.) – Class 3 Sectionals in the sport of volleyball get started today Saturday as the Ste. Genevieve Dragons host and take on the Windsor Owls, and then the Perryville Pirates do battle with the Rosati-Kain Kougars all on J-98.

For Ste. Genevieve, a surprise run though the Class 3, District 2 tournament saw them defeat a higher-seeded team in all three matches they played, including the first-seeded Central Rebels and second-seeded Festus Tigers.

They’re now 14-14-4 and finally have a healthy roster according to head coach Jessica Fallert.


The opponent of Ste. Genevieve is 22-10-4 Windsor, who got through Class 3, District 3 as the 3-seed.

These two teams met in early September, with Ste. Gen taking the match in two sets.

Owls head coach Stephanie Dueker says much has changed on both sides since then.

Taking the court after will be Perryville and Rosati-Kain.

The Pirates come into this one having one 9 straight matches, and they sport a 26-6-2 overall record.

The top seed from Class 3, District 1, Perryville got by third-seeded Dexter in the championship in three sets.

Rosati-Kain is 13-13-1 this year and enters the state tournament after winning Class 3, District 4 as the top seed.

They were in Ste. Gen last year for sectionals as well, but lost to the eventual state runners-up in Lutheran South.

You can tune into all the action Saturday on J-98, with Ste. Gen and Windsor playing at 3 and Perryville facing Rosati-Kain at 4:30.

The two winners will play each other in the state quarterfinals at 6.
