Ste. Gen Man Dies In Car Crash In Ste. Genevieve County

(Ste. Genevieve County) A man from Ste. Genevieve was killed in a two vehicle crash Wednesday morning in Ste. Genevieve County. The Highway Patrol says the accident took place on ‘Z’ Highway at St. Mary Church Road when a Chevy Cobalt driven by 21-year-old Billie Nickelson of Ste. Genevieve crossed the centerline and struck a 2016 Mack 600 truck head-on that was driven by 56-year-old Darrel Defreitas of Carbondale, Illinois. Ste. Genevieve County Coroner Eric Basler pronounced Nickelson dead at the scene of the crash. The truck driver was not injured.
