(Ste. Genevieve, Mo.) The Ste. Genevieve Volleyball team has found their woman. Carla Basler was announced as the replacement for former head coach Jess Fallert who stepped down after the conclusion of this past season. Basler comes in with experience as an assistant coach at both Valle Catholic and Ste. Genevieve, but also has experience as a player. In high school, Basler was a setter, but transitioned to three different positions at Fontbonne University. Basler says her experience in multiple positions will help her as a coach.

Defensive specialist is the only position Basler hasn’t played, but she says she’s learned how to coach defense from some great coaches.

This past season the Lady Dragons won their fourth straight district title and Basler says it’s going to be tough to replace the four seniors from last season.

Carla Basler and the Lady Dragons will begin their quest for a fifth straight district title on September 1st at home against Festus.
