Ste. Genevieve Celebrates Senior Day With 13-0 Win Over St. Pius

(Ste. Genevieve) The Ste. Genevieve Dragons run ruled the St. Pius Lancers, 13-0, in five innings Friday afternoon. The Lancers had two on with one out in the top of the first when Grant Williams made a web gem for the Dragons.

Everything was in Ste. Gen’s favor from that point forward. Every starter scored a run, eight batters recorded an RBI and seven of the nine recorded a base hit. Mason Nix’s first extra base hit of the season put the Dragons up 5-0 in the second inning.

Nix lead the way with three runs batted in, while Aiden Meyer, Luke Ferranto and Justin Schweigert had two RBIs each. Ste. Genevieve improve to 5-13 on the season. Coach Mike McDaniel was proud of his guys for performing in every facet of the game.

Bryant Schwent pitched all five innings, yielding three hits and zero walks with two strikeouts. Friday was Senior Day for the Dragons, but the only senior on the roster is manager Dustin Abt. He threw out the first pitch, joined the broadcast during the third inning, and even got to play right field before the game ended.

St. Pius played their fourth game in four days and now sit at 11-7 on the season. The Lancers host Jefferson on Tuesday. Ste. Genevieve will play in the MAAA conference tournament next week.
