(Ste. Genevieve) For the second straight year, the Ste. Genevieve Dragons have won their conference tournament after knocking off the North County Raiders 4-2 this afternoon in the MAAA baseball tournament championship game. Logan Gegg capped off a big third inning that started with a 2-run double from Chad Donze.

Gegg pitched well enough for the Dragons to win their fourth straight and improve to 18-4, while North County falls to 13-7-1. Dragons coach Mike McDaniel says Gegg made the right pitches at the right times.

The third place game was also played as the West County Bulldogs capped off a strong week by knocking off the Farmington Knights 5-4. Hayden Roney was involved in the action early.

Farmington made a late push and had a chance to tie the game in the seventh inning, but West County pitcher Peyton Nipper shut the door. Bulldogs coach John Simily liked how his team responded from the semifinal loss.

The Bulldogs improve to 16-6 while Farmington falls to 9-15.
