Ste. Genevieve Mayor Remembers Former Leader of Community and Friend

(Ste. Genevieve) A leader for many years in the city of Ste. Genevieve passed away on Friday.

John Stuppy was a Ste. Gen city councilman from 2009 through 2016.

He was 62.

Mayor Paul Hassler was a good friend of Stuppy’s.

During Saturday’s opening ceremony at the Jour de Fete celebration, the mayor spoke a little bit about his friend.

John Stuppy was the owner of Stuppy Auto Sales and Wrecker Service in Ste. Genevieve.

Stuppy was also a board member of Heavenly Hope, a member of the MASTERS, Backstoppers, a former Jour de Fete board and committee member, a member of the Knights of Columbus #1037, was grand marshal in 2018 for the Holiday Christmas Parade and the Ste. Genevieve County Fair Parade, along with other good works for the community.
