Ste. Genevieve Wrestler Named Athlete Of The Week

(Ste. Genevieve) Drake Meyer, a freshman wrestler at St. Genevieve High School, was named the Applebee’s of Farmington Athlete of the Week for the week of January 23. He won the award after recording a first-period pin of every opponent he faced last week to earn the 113-pound Semo Conference Championship. He is now 34-1 on the season, with most of his wins coming by fall.

Meyer discussed the importance of approaching every match with confidence as a key to his success.

He also mentioned the role that his coaches have played in helping him maximize his performance.

Meyer is the number one wrestler for his weight in Class Two. He will look to continue his stellar season next month at the district and state tournaments.
