Ste. Genevieve’s Ayden Butcher Scores A Spot On The Football Dream Team

(Ste. Genevieve) Ayden Butcher of Ste. Genevieve was voted onto the Regional Radio Dream Team for Football. It was his first season in a Dragon uniform, and he made it count by rushing for 16 touchdowns and 1,173 yards, the 9th most yards in school history.

Butcher moved down from the Chicago area last spring, so he didn’t have a clue what the Dream Team was. He just saw his phone blowing up the night of the selection show and had an interesting thought…

Butcher introduced himself to Dragons head coach Jay Pope about joining the football team.

He says it took a little bit of time to get acclimated with the other kids on the team, but he credits his relationship with his linemen in getting voted onto the Dream Team.

Butcher says he’s moved around a lot and one of his families’ stops was in Hillsboro when he was younger. He played youth football with fellow Dream Teamers Alex Medina, Austin Romaine and Jaxin Patterson from Hillsboro and Dream Team Player of the Year Cole Ruble from Seckman…

His favorite memory from his lone year in Ste. Genevieve came on his very first touch in the first game of the season against Festus.
