The season came to an end for the Ste. Genevieve Dragons as they fell in the Class 3 District 1 championship 40-0 to the Kennett Indians on J-98 tonight (Friday). Ste. Gen had a few promising moments on offense, but couldn’t sustain any drives or stop the opposing rushing attack. Senior Marsayv’aun Harrell returned a blocked punt to the 20 yard line, then needed just one play to find the first points of the game.

In the second half, Harrell kept dazzling, creating another touchdown on third and long from deep in his own territory.

Harrell finished with 211 yards on 19 carries and three scores. Austin Bullock led the Dragons with 18 carries and 90 yards. Dragons head coach Ken Weik says he was satisfied with how his guys finished the year.

Ste. Genevieve finished with an 8-4 record and will graduate 23 seniors. Kennett remained undefeated at 12-0 and will take on either Roosevelt or St. Francis Borgia in the state quarterfinals.
