Steelville Man Seriously Injured In Accident

(Steelville) A Steelville man was seriously injured last night after being hit by a car while he was walking along Highway 19, south of Steelville.
The highway patrol says 40 year old Matthew Gaghen was walking on the side of the road when he was hit by a car driven by 34 year old Darren Brinkley of Steelville, who was reportedly impaired and distracted.
Gaghen was flown to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur.
Brinkley was arrested and charged with careless and imprudent driving resulting in a crash and DWI(with drugs) involving serious injury.
He was taken to the Crawford County Jail.
