Steelville’s Booker Wins Athlete of the Week Honors

It was an incredibly successful week for the Steelville Cardinals girls basketball team and especially senior forward Sydney Booker. In the Cardinals two wins over Strafford and Miller in the Class 3 State Tournament, Booker posted 22 points and 11 rebounds in their Sectional match up and 17 points and 5 rebounds in their Quarterfinal game. Sydney also broke the girls basketball scoring record which was held previously by 2018 Steelville grad Hannah Cottrell at 1,592. Sydney sits at 1,609 currently and she says she welcomes the title of leader on her squad.

The Steelville Cardinals are getting geared up for their first ever final four as they’ll take on Lift for Life Academy in the Class 3 Semifinals tomorrow and Booker says she’s stoked for the opportunity.

As Athlete of the Week, Booker receives a t-shirt, a certificate and coupon good for one free entree at Applebee’s in Farmington.
