Steelville’s Conner Diaz Is A State Champion And A Member Of The Boys Cross Country Dream Team
(Steelville) Conner Diaz of Steelville was voted onto the Regional Radio Dream Team for Boys Cross Country. Diaz won the Class 2 state championship in a time of 16 minutes 15 seconds. He’s the only cross country champion in Steelville history.
Diaz tells us how he found out he was voted to the Dream Team.
The senior collected all-state finishes in all four years. Prior to this year, his best finish was 5th place his junior year. Diaz tells us how he prepped for his final state championship race.
He says a moment with his team before the district race helped ignite the team to a strong finish.
Diaz will continue his running career at Columbia College.
Diaz won two individual district championships during his career and won a total of 22 races.
