(STEELVILLE, Mo.) – After earning her third straight state title in the two-mile race, Allie Gibbs of the Steelville Cardinals track and field team has been named the Parkland Health Mart Pharmacy “Play It Forward” Athlete of the Week. The two-mile race came right down to the wire, but Gibbs was able to beat out Alex Sharp of Brookfield by just nine one-hundredths of a second. Cardinals coach Zach Kennedy said it was a dramatic finish.

During the weekend, Gibbs also had top-five finishes in the 800- and 1600-meter races. Kennedy said it was fun seeing Gibbs finish out her high school career in that way.

As the Athlete of the Week, Gibbs will receive a t-shirt, a certificate and the chance to pick a local charity that will receive a $25 donation from Parkland Health Mart Pharmacy.
