Suspected Pipe Bomb Found During Traffic Stop Outside of Hillsboro, St. Louis County Bomb and Arson Squad Assisting

(Hillsboro) The St. Louis County Bomb Squad was called upon Tuesday afternoon in Jefferson County after sheriff’s deputies discovered what they believed to be pipe bombs in transport.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Grant Bissell says a deputy made made a traffic stop at around 2:45.

The incident happened at the intersection of Jarvis Road and Old State Route 21 just outside of Hillsboro, which caused increased traffic in and around the region through the evening.

The St. Louis County Bomb and Arson Squad is assisting and will dismantle the devices while testing if they are indeed actual pipe bombs.

The driver, a 45-year-old man from Hillsboro, has been taken into custody on unrelated outstanding warrants.
