Syphilis Cases on the Rise in St. Francois County

(Park Hills) St. Francois County is seeing an increase in numbers in a chronic bacterial disease.

Linda Ragsdale is the director of the St. Francois County Health Department in Park Hills.

She says this is not the only location where they are seeing numbers rise for positive cases of syphilis.

Ragsdale tells us a little more about syphilis and what to look for.

Syphilis can be cured, but without treatment it can cause lasting health problems.

Syphilis can also be passed from mother to child, so it’s important that women test for syphilis during pregnancy.
