Tennessee woman shoots herself following I-55 accident near Imperial

(Imperial) A woman from Tennessee is dead after shooting herself following a traffic accident on southbound I-55 late Monday night. Corporal Dallas Thompson with the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the incident took place a little after 10’clock Monday night.

Corporal Dallas says a couple from Tennessee were driving a Chevy Spark and then an argument may have ensued, meanwhile a St. Franois County Ambulance which was traveling south near the time of the accident stopped to help with the situation as it took a deadly turn.

The names of those involved in the incident have not been released. The woman was 22-years-old, and the male 25-years of age. The incident shut down the southbound I-55 traffic from Arnold to Highway M in Barnhart for several hours.
