Terre Du Lac Man Charged With Child Abuse

(TERRE DU LAC, Mo.) – A man from Terre Du Lac has been charged after allegedly striking his girlfriend’s child while babysitting the 3-year old girl.

The Daily Journal reports that 37-year old Ignatius Damier, a Terre Du Lac police officer who has since been fired, faces two felony counts of abuse or neglect of a child.

The incident happened on September 2nd when Damier both slapped the child in the face and spanked the girl in the lower back area, causing bruising.

After initially denying any involvement, Damier ended up admitting to authorities that he caused the bruising.

Damier told law enforcement that he did it after the child talked back to him and urinated on the floor.

Damier was booked on a $5,000 bond Wednesday in St. Francois County Court.
