Tessereau returns to Crystal City to lead boys’ hoops
(Crystal City, Mo.) Crystal City is joining the growing club of Jefferson County schools making a coaching change in basketball.
Phil Tessereau has been hired as the new head coach for the Hornet boys.
Tessereau is returning to his alma mater, where he later was an assistant boys’ basketball coach for current Jefferson head man Sean Breeze.
But this will be the first team he has been head coach of since Woodland almost 20 years ago.
He says it’s a great honor to have the head job once again.
Tessereau has been around basketball in the St. Louis area for around 2 decades, including time spent on the AAU circuit and working with the St. Louis Basketball Academy.
He says that experience shows what the best do to win.
Crystal City loses 4 seniors but will return 2 of its top 4 scorers in Donovan Tullock and Carson Short
For Tessereau, he knows there will be an adjustment period, starting with becoming more familiar with the Hornets.
Crystal City won 6 out of its final 9 games and reached the Class 2 District 4 championship game last season before finishing 13-13 under Lee Richardson.
