Thieves Praying on Easy Targets this Holiday Season

(Festus) ‘Tis the season for thieving! That’s the words of one local police chief who says this time of year always brings out the worst in thieves who are looking for crimes of opportunity.

Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis says porch pirates will take advantage of such an opportunity if a package is delivered and unattended to.

Lewis adds to also be careful in how you announce when on vacation or out of town.

The Festus Police Department has what they call “Vacation Requests”.

That’s for when someone will be out of town for an extended period of time and it requests police to increase patrols and even check on the property while the person is away.
