Thomas Edwin Dempsey of Herculaneum passed away on Saturday, November 23rd at the age of 84. He was a graduate of Central Missouri University, where he earned his Masters of Education. He taught school at Potosi from 1957 to 1968, and worked for the Dunklin R-5 School District as Principal of Pevely Elementary from 1968 to 1990. He was a member of the Missouri Teachers Association, and a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, where he served as an Elder for many years. He enjoyed leatherworking, camping, gardening, working on cars, watching westerns, spending time with family and he had a love for children.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Maudena, daughters; Christine Recar of Pevely, Kathleen Conklin-Smith of Herculaneum, and Marlene Walker of Iowa, a dear son-in-law Paul Recar, brother; Dr. Herbert Dempsey of Lee’s Summit, sisters; Janie Dickerson of Georgia, and Sarah Hornsey of Mineral Point, eleven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral service for Thomas Dempsey will be Saturday afternoon at 1 at the Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus, with internment in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Pevely.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 5 until 8 at the funeral home.
