Three People Killed in Two Vehicle Crash in Jefferson County Tuesday Night

(Jefferson County) Three people were killed in a two vehicle crash in Jefferson County Tuesday night.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix being driven by 25-year-old Lacey Newton of Bonne Terre and a 2016 Chevy Cruze being driven by 26-year-old David Thurby of Fenton were both driving east on Route 30, west of Upper Byrnes Mill Road when Thurby failed to keep a proper lookout and struck the rear of Newton’s vehicle.

As a result, both vehicles travelled off the right side of the road, striking multiple trees.

Newton and her passengers, 30-year-old Cordell Williams of Bonne Terre and a 4-month old infant were pronounced dead on the scene by EMS personnel.

Thurby sustained minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital South.

Thurby has been charged with Driving While Intoxicated resulting in the death of two or more.
