Tourism Taking A Big Hit In Missouri

(Jefferson City) Travel industry analysts are estimating that Missouri has lost almost two-point-two billion dollars due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Some experts say the pandemic will result in more people traveling by car than by plane.

Missouri tourism officials say almost one-third of the people working in the industry have wound up filing for unemployment benefits.

Hotel occupancy in the Jefferson City area was about 34 percent in April, compared to 63 percent in the same month last year.
