(Jefferson County) Traffic crashes and fatal accidents remain up compared to last year’s numbers at this time.

Corporal Juston Wheetley with the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the state is currently up 11 percent in fatal crashes from 2019.

We asked Corporal Wheetley how traffic crashes over this year’s Thanksgiving Holiday compared to last year’s.

Troopers are gearing up for the anticipated increase in traffic during the holidays this month.

Wheetley says they will be conducting operation Crash Awareness Reduction Effort (C.A.R.E.) during the weeks of Christmas and New Years.
