Twin City Firecracker Extravaganza will be bitter sweet

(Festus) So far, public events in Jefferson County have been seeing record crowds after all were postponed in 2020. Both the Hillsboro Homecoming and Festival, the Festus Mayor’s Summer Car Cruise, and the Jefferson County Rodeo saw big numbers of participants. That trend is expected to continue at the Twin City Firecracker Extravaganza with weekend after next. This event will also be held without the help of former Festus Parks Superintendent Larry Crites, who passed away last year. Festus Mayor Sam Richards says everyone will be thinking of Larry during the event.

The planning for the event has been placed on the shoulders of new Festus Parks Superintendent Josh Whaley and the Director of Tourism and Recreation Barb Lowry. Lowry says they hope to make Larry proud.

The Twin City Firecracker Extravaganza will take place on Friday, June 25th, and Saturday, June 26th at Crites Memorial Park in Festus.
