Two candidates tie for spot on the Dunklin R-5 School Board

(Herculaneum/Pevely) The Dunklin R-5 School District is going over what its options might be after the results of Tuesday’s Municipal General election. Four people ran for two positions on the Dunklin School board with Marissa Newman winning with 504 votes, but there was a tie for the other position with John A. Maddox IV and Jarred Engelbach both receiving 449 votes. Dunklin Superintendent Dr. Clint Freeman says the likely option will be a special election.

There will likely be a recount conducted by the Jefferson County Elections Authority and the outcome from that recount will determine the next course of action. If a special election is conducted, it could possibly be held before the end of the month.
