Two People Injured After Two-Vehicle Accident on Northbound I-55 Near Imperial Main

Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident on northbound I-55 north of Imperial Main Street early Wednesday morning. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, A 2004 Ford Escape driven by 18-year-old Emily Mitchell of Fenton was blocking two lanes of traffic after a previous accident. The Escape was also without working exterior lighting and was struck by a 2024 Volkswagen Taos driven by 25-year-old Matthew Shaw of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. Both Mitchell and Shaw were taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital South, Mitchell with moderate injuries and Shaw with serious injuries. The accident took place around 2:15 Wednesday morning.
