Two Steelville Residents Appear in Crawford County Court in Albert Barton Murder Case

(Steelville) Two Steelville residents, one charged this summer with murdering Albert Terry Barton, the other charged in relation to the murder, made appearances in Crawford County court this month.

20-year-old Beau Mackenna Dyer pleaded not guilty to her three charges of first degree murder, armed criminal action and tampering with evidence in a felony prosecution.

She won’t have her trial date set until January 3rd.

The other person charged in this case is 51-year-old Eric M. Ray.

He’s facing the charges of abandonment of a corpse and tampering with evidence in a felony prosecution.

Ray had his jury trial set for May 4th of next year.

He’s last chance to plea bargain will be March 14th of 2022.

Albert Barton disappeared on June 6th of this year and his body was found by police on June 30th. After interviewing Dyer and Ray, Crawford County deputies learned where Barton’s body was located.

Police still have not indicated how Barton was killed.
