(FESTUS) The Jefferson baseball team walks it off on KJFF with a 6-5 win today over the Herculaneum Blackcats.

The visiting Blackcats grabbed a 2-0 second inning lead after a pair of Blue Jays errors, with Zach Phillips and Gavin Turley scoring the runs. Then Jefferson in the bottom of the 3rd used a pair of sacrifice flies and a Herky error to take a 3-2 lead. At 3-3 in the 4th, Erik Eisenbeis delivers for the Blue Jays.

Later on, with the Blackcats trailing by two, Bryce Hall ties it up.

At 5-5 in the bottom of the 7th and Jefferson in a bases-loaded situation, Jon Weik gets plunked by a Jordan Duncan fastball to win the game for the Blue Jays. Even with the loss, Herky head coach Zac Bone expresses pride in the way his guys competed.

The Blue Jays got production from the bottom of the order with Jacob Melton batting 8th and Eisenbeis 9th, something head coach Robert Kuehnle expects to happen.

The win for the Blue Jays puts them 6-5 overall and 2-0 in the Jefferson County Small Schools standings, while Herculaneum drops to 3-1-1 overall and 2-1 in the standings. Jefferson will next compete in the Fredericktown tournament this weekend. Herculaneum hosts Brentwood on Thursday.
