Vacant house fire in Festus on South Mill Street

(Festus) Multiple local agencies responded to a house fire in Festus on South Mill Street Thursday night. The call came in a little before 8:30, and there was visible smoke coming from the second story according to Festus Fire Chief Travis Wood.

There were no injuries as a result of the fire and the cause of the fire is under investigation. The Festus Fire department was assisted by the Dunklin, Hematite, and Jefferson R-7 Fire Protection Districts, as well as the Crystal City Fire Department. The Mapaville Fire Protection District was the move-up agency to man the Festus Fire House during the fire.
