Valle At Ste. Gen Football Preview

(Ste. Genevieve) The next iteration of the “Old Settlement Showdown” will take place Friday night, as the Valle Catholic football team takes on Ste. Genevieve at the home of the Dragons. Ste. Gen is coming off of a 36-31 win over Festus last Friday. That game was also Jay Pope’s debut as a head coach and Pope told Regional Radio how nice it felt to get the win.

While his head coaching career is new, Pope is well-versed in this old-school rivalry. Pope is a Valle grad and was an assistant coach for the Warriors for nine seasons, so he has an idea of what to expect Friday night.

Speaking of preparation, Valle head coach Judd Naeger says he’s in the process of working on the game plan.

Valle has won seven out of the last eight games in the “Old Settlement Showdown”, with Ste. Gen winning the 2018 contest 7-6. This game will be broadcast on J-98 tomorrow (Friday) night with the Fliegs Equipment Pregame Show starting at 6 and kickoff at 7.
