(Oxford) Valle Catholic Alumni Connor Basler played well in the Oxford Regional last week. Against the 12th ranked Rebels of Ole Miss, Basler went 2-4 at the plate with a double into deep left field and a stolen base. In the second game against Southern Mississippi, Basler only went 1-3, but that one hit made history. Two pitches later, he would steal second in the bottom of the fifth. The stolen base marks Basler’s 53rd of his career, which is the most all-time for Southeast Missouri Baseball. Basler broke an 18-year record set by Benton native Denver Stuckey. SEMO would lose both games in the Oxford Regional and finished with a record of 30-22.
