(Hayti) The Valle Catholic Warriors fell to the Hayti Indians in the Class 1 District 1 championship 28-7 in a game heard on J-98 on Friday night. In the first quarter of a scoreless game, Valle Catholic went for it on 4th down and quarterback Chase Dunlap was sacked and a roughing the passer penalty was called on Hayti, giving the Warriors a first down; however, after a two minute discussion among the officials the penalty was waved off and Hayti got the ball. It was on the very next play Hayti’s Nakwon Harris rushed for 67 yards on an option straight into the endzone.

Indians Ivory Winters racked up serious real estate rushing 157 yards with three touchdowns including this TD run giving Hayti a comfortable 18-0 lead midway through the third.

Warrior’s Ryan Grein caught for 87 yards on 9 catches and quarterback Chase Dunlap threw 1 touchdown with 3 interceptions. Valle’s only score came late in the third quarter on a 16 yard connection through the air from Dunlap to Grein.

With a score finally on the board for Valle, Hayti’s Ivory Winters would answer right back early in the 4th quarter with his third touchdown on the Indians very next drive.

Valle Catholic head coach Judd Naeger credits his team on a hard fought game and season and wishes the best to Hayti.

Valle Catholic ends their season at 9-3 while Hayti remains undefeated at 12-0. The Indians will advance to the Class 1 State Quarterfinals next Saturday.
