It’s a showdown of top-five teams in the state and a rematch of a championship game from last year as the Hayti Indians visit the Valle Catholic Warriors Friday evening in the Class 1 District 1 title game on the MyMoInfo SportsStream.

The sixth-ranked Warrior have won eight straight and are gunning for their 11th district title in the last 12 years.

Valle Catholic head coach Judd Naeger says his team is on a roll, but they’re facing their steepest test of the season.

The Warriors are a juggernaut on both sides of the ball, but Naeger says the defense will need to play a big role against a Hayti offense with plenty of stars.

Those stars for the Indians are younger than you’d think.
Despite winning the Class 1 state title last year on their way to an undefeated record, Hayti graduated 16 seniors in 2018.
Head coach Dominique Robinson says that, while trying to beat Valle again has been on their minds, his team had to focus inward first.

But the young pups have stepped up.
The fifth-ranked Indians are also 10-1 and haven’t lost since the season opener.
Robinson points to a number of fresh faces.

The winner faces either Thayer or Pierce City in the state quarterfinals.
Coverage starts at 6 Friday night with the Flieg’s Equipment Pregame Show on the MyMoInfo SportsStream.
