The St. Pius Lancers will host the Valle Catholic Warriors on Friday in a heavyweight matchup to conclude the regular season for both teams.

The Lancers enter the contest with a four game winning streak and a 7-1 record. St. Pius defeated Crystal 46-8 on the road last week.

The Warriors come into the game having won five consecutive matches and now sport a 6-2 record after a successful outing versus Herculaneum last week, 47-0.

For head coach Judd Naeger of Valle Catholic, high expectations are a constant. From 2013-15 his team went 45-0 and won three straight state titles.

And so by his standards, consistency has been a bit of a struggle this season.

On the other side for Lancers head coach Jerry Woods, it has been a huge turnaround season for his squad. St. Pius went 4-6 just a season ago, but a greater commitment to offseason workouts this year has the Lancers sitting pretty.

Valle is sporting perhaps one of their smallest teams ever, but coach Naeger has been proud of the effort his players have shown in beating bigger teams all season long.

Coach Woods knows that in order to beat Valle, his team will have to minimize mistakes.
