Valle Catholic Volleyball Starts Quest For Fourth State Title

(Jackson) Valle Catholic volleyball makes an appearance in the sectional round for the fifth straight year and takes on Woodland for the second straight year today on KREI. Last year, they ended Woodland’s season in a close match winning 2-1, (26-24, 23-25, 25-22). Valle also beat the Cardinals earlier this season in the Dig for Life Tourney down in Cape Girardeau 2-0. Head coach Nancy Fischer says Woodland will have a much different look from that win earlier this year.

Coach Fischer tells us the Warriors have focused on net play and more specifically defensive play when gearing up for the Cardinals.

Melissa Rinacke is the head coach for the Woodland Cardinals who come into the match with a 19-6-3 record. She says Woodland can’t make many mistakes if they want to win.

Valle Catholic (27-5-2) takes on Woodland (19-6-3) in the Class 2 Sectional round this afternoon at 2:30 on AM 800 KREI. If the Warriors win, we will also have coverage of their quarterfinal matchup where they will play the winner of Malden and the host Saxony Lutheran.
