(Ste. Genevieve) The Valle Catholic volleyball team is heading back to the State Final Four for the first time since 2017 and Warriors’ senior outside hitter Riley Siebert has been named the Applebee’s of Farmington Athlete of the Week.

Valle Catholic head coach Nancy Fischer says Riley’s progression this season has been fun to watch.

Across four playoff matches – districts, sectionals, and quarterfinals – Siebert compiled 45 kills in 87 attempts with only eight errors, 12 aces in 61 service attempts, 14 block assists, and 18 digs.

Fischer says while the Warriors’ success this year has been a team effort, Siebert readiness to make big plays has been pivotal.

Siebert had been a significant role player in the past for Valle Catholic and was poised to be a key contributor last year before she was sidelined for several weeks due to a high ankle sprain that she sustained in a pre-season jamboree.

Now with a full season under her belt and playing at full strength, Siebert has shown that she can do just about anything that is asked of her on a volleyball court.

Coach Fischer breaks down Riley’s skillset.

As Athlete of the Week, Siebert will receive a T-shirt, a certificate, and a coupon good for one free entree at Applebee’s in Farmington.

The Valle Catholic volleyball team will play in the State Semifinals on Friday when they take on the Miller Cardinals.

Win or lose, we will have coverage of Valle in either the state championship or the third-place game on Saturday.
