Valle Storms Back To Beat Central On J98

(Ste. Genevieve) The J98 Game of the Week lived up to the hype. Valle Catholic scored 19 unanswered points to defeat the Central Rebels 40-30 at Father John Dempsey Field.

Valle took the opening kickoff and drove 65 yards down the field to open the scoring.

It stayed 7-0 into the second quarter. Valle had the ball in their own territory with 6:28 left in the half and Central forced and recovered the fumble at the 18-yard line. It took the Rebels just over 30 seconds to even the score.

Tied 7-7, Central got the second half kickoff and took it 80 yards to go on top.

On the very next drive, Valle Catholic answered on a critical fourth down.

Central gets the ball back and the result was the quickest drive of the night.

The Valle defense forced a turnover on downs and got the ball at Central’s 40-yard line. A couple big runs setup the Warriors at the four-yard line.

Central blocked the PAT so the Rebels led by one. Their next drive started in the third quarter and ended with a touchdown with nine minutes to go in the game.

Valle trailed by nine in the second half against Seckman back in week one but they came back to win that game. So the Warriors got the ball back and marched 57 yards down the field.

A failed two-point conversion made it 30-27 Central. Valle forced a punt that didn’t go far and the Warriors began their next drive at the 50. Valle’s run game came alive in the second half and it powered them to take the lead back.

The PAT made it 34-30. Valle forced another turnover on downs and took over from their own 43 with just under two minutes to go. Bryce Geisler then broke off a big run.

Giesler finished with 18 carries for 201 yards and two touchdowns. Chase Fallert was the Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game with 20 carries for 134 yards and three touchdowns and a passing touchdown.

Valle ran for 260 yards in the second half and scored 19 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.

Head coach Judd Naeger says the Warrior’s defense was huge in the comeback.

Valle stays undefeated at 6-0 and will face Ste. Genevieve next week in the J98 Game of the Week. If Valle wins, they’ll clinch the MAFC White Division title.

Central drops their first game of the season. the 5-1 Rebels play Fredericktown on Friday.
