(IRONTON, Mo.) – The Valle Catholic Warriors volleyball team earned at least a share of the MAAA Small School Divisions regular season title Thursday night, as they knocked off the Arcadia Valley Tigers in three sets by a score of 21-25, 25-19, 25-20 on AV’s Senior Night.

In a match heard on the MyMoInfo SportStream, Valle was in control through most of the first, but AV tied it up at 21-21.

That’s when junior middle hitter Maddie DeMent took over.

Valle would hold Arcadia Valley at arm’s length for much of the second set, and it was the Warriors’ star sophomore middle Ella Bertram earning a key block on DeMent to give Valle the 25-19 edge.

Set three would see both teams play to a 17-17 tie, but a Valle timeout led to four straight Warriors points to make it 21-17.

They took off from there and had match point at 24-20.

Valle head coach Nancy Fischer talks about what she said to her team after AV took the first set.

With the win, Valle Catholic is now 17-5-1 overall and 4-0 in the MAAA Conference Small Schools Division.

They can win the division outright with a win next Tuesday versus Valley Caledonia.

Their next game is Monday at Ste. Genevieve.

Arcadia Valley is now 17-5 and 3-1 in the Small Schools Division.

They’ll play in the Jackson Tournament over the weekend and then face off with West County on the road next Thursday.

Our Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game was Valle’s senior outside hitter Hannah Drury.
